Fowey across the river by ferry has speciality shops and restaurants, and there are regular cultural events so check the calendar.

Inside, the ambience is cheerful and bright, with a calm colour palette and some interesting retro furniture pieces. Along Polruan's waterfront, you'll find shops and cafes, a pleasant pub with harbour views, a sandy village beach and the ferry landing. Great walks start from your door, around the harbour for wooded hills reflected in the tidal inlets or along the coast path – quaint Polperro is under 7 miles' walk and should take 3 hours, with return by bus possible on some days. A fine circular walk from Fowey to Polkerris beach, where water activities are available, is just over 6 miles long. By car, a trip to Charlestown Harbour 18 miles away evokes the romantic 18th century Age of Sail.
