Work up an appetite striding across the sand, then warm your cockles with a pint of local cider at one of the nearby pubs. On your return, put your feet up in the comfortable lounge and enjoy a well-deserved snooze by the fire.

The interiors are exactly what you would expect from a traditional coastal home, combining fresh neutral tones with wooden furniture and quirky decorations that give a nod to the past. Wake to the cry of seagulls and the sight of boats bobbing merrily in the waves, heading downstairs for a delicious breakfast and a mug of freshly brewed tea. The surrounding village is your garden, where you can admire the fantastic views from the top of the steep hill, or stroll to the ferry port ready to cross the water to Fowey.

Disembark from the passenger ferry to discover a treasure trove of independent shops, charming eateries and historic attractions such as Catherine’s Castle. Further afield, the Eden Project 16 miles away has plenty to offer guests of all ages, although the viewing platform above the Rainforest Biome isn’t for the faint-hearted! St Austell, 18.5 miles away, is an excellent place to visit, famous for its brewery and history of China clay production.
