The Lantern is perfect for couples looking to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful break in the Cornish countryside with picturesque walks right from the doorstep. Scoff scones laden with jam and clotted cream on the beautiful patio and relax to the sound of birdsong before a gentle ramble through the Tamar Valley. With weary legs, retreat back to the single-storey cottage, strike up the wood burner, sink into the plump sofa and unwind.

 

A palette of chalky hues combined with exposed beams and wooden panelling make this an elegant dwelling to escape to. The open-plan lounge and dining area are flooded with natural light through floor to ceiling windows - the perfect spot to unfurl with a good book. Tucked away in the quaint village of Metherell, The Lantern is ideally located on the border of Cornwall and Devon. From here you can explore both the north and south coasts, as well as the rugged Dartmoor National Park (8 miles). The National Trust's Cotehele is less than 1 mile away, while the historic town of Tavistock is 7 miles with its pannier market, welcoming eateries, cinema and swimming pool.

Dogs are charged at $23 each per full or part week.
