If you are looking for a cottage offering 2 completely separate self-sufficient living spaces (each with their own entrance) for extended family, look no further! This lovely 4-season, 2,000 sq, ft., 2 level, 5 bedroom classic Muskoka cottage is located on historic Royal Muskoka Island on ever popular Lake Rosseau. Although “Island” is part of the name, don’t be misled, Royal Muskoka is accessed by a municipally maintained year-round road, allowing four seasons of enjoyment at this great vacation destination. Royal Muskoka Island is steeped in history and was once home to the famed Royal Muskoka Hotel. Built in 1901 and then destroyed by fire in 1952, it was the Grand Dame of the lake and a destination for tycoons and socialites alike.
The interior of the cottage on both levels is well laid out, each having their own fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, bathrooms and bedrooms. The style on both levels is classic Muskoka, with pine walls throughout, comfortable furnishings and décor and an abundance of windows facing out to the lake providing great tree-top views and plenty of soft ambient lighting.
Both levels also have direct walk-outs to spacious decks, a wonderful spot for morning coffees, then head down to the large dock and 150 feet of natural shoreline to spend the rest of your day having fun in the sun. Being located in a small quiet bay, where the water is only about 12 feet deep, makes it much warmer and calmer than out on the open lake. Needless to say this is ideal for paddling and swimming and the fishing is great too. Just to the side of the dock at the water’s edge, there is a shallow, sandy, shaded area perfect for the younger children to splash and play all day long.
For avid boaters rent a boat or bring your own boat and discover the extensive network connecting the "The Big Three” (Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph and Lake Muskoka) via river and lock systems. For running/walking enthusiasts there is a 2.5km loop around the crescent and for school age children there is a great tree house on the property.
No day is complete in cottage country without a BBQ dinner and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit and with a northwest exposure, you will be privy to amazing sunsets from the dock. Life is good!
