Private Beach Cottage with Heated Pool, Kayaks, Bikes

Horizons House sits high atop a hill looking over the Atlantic Ocean, a two-minute walk from a miles-long beach. Our private acre extends right to the beach, with private deeded beach access and a private beach cabana on the dune. Other houses are far away from Horizons. Our house and pool are completely private, set back amidst the palms and native trees.

Foot stones take you to the beach where you may not see anyone for days. Paddle one of the two kayaks or snorkel the reefs right off the beach or go mountain biking along the sandy road.

The house is very comfortable, completely air conditioned with ceiling fans throughout. The kitchen has all new appliances, including a four-burner gas range, wall oven, full size refrigerator, and microwave. The dining area seats six at the dining room table. The living area has a sofa, love seat, and chair set which seats six, and a satellite TV with 40 channels and a DVD player.

Step outside onto the patio to dine in the shade of the deck, or climb to the upper deck, which is off the master bedroom and has ocean views.

Horizons House has two large bedrooms, both with full en-suite baths. The master bedroom, upstairs, has excellent privacy. It’s furnished with a king bed and equipped with a satellite TV with 40 channels, a DVD player.

The guest bedroom, downstairs, has an en-suite bath and is furnished with two full beds.

Amenities at Horizons Bahamas include air conditioning, WIFI, satellite TV, washer/dryer, gas grill, bicycles, and two kayaks. Our private pool is heated! A pool heating fee of $300 per week applies if you want the pool heated.

The town of Governors Harbour, less than 15 minutes by car from the property, has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. It has a nice little collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking a picturesque harbor. You can buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour is a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street. You won’t want to miss it. The town of Palmetto Point, just 5 minutes from the house, has several smaller stores and a good restaurant.

Upscale beachfront restaurants in the area include Pascal’s at Sky Beach Club (International cuisine with Bahamian influences), Tippy’s (international and fusion), The Buccaneer (Bahamian cuisine with Caribbean-Chinese fusion), La Bougainvillea (international cuisine), 1648 Restaurant (Bahamian cuisine inspired by European influences), Bacchus Fine Foods (gourmet restaurant and food store), and The Rainbow Inn (famous for its steaks and seafood). The above all have live music one or more nights a week, so there is live entertainment somewhere nearby almost every night. The Governors Harbour area also has numerous little takeouts and restaurants offering local cuisine, including Da Perk (coffee shop and sandwiches), The Banks Road Deli, Mate and Jenny’s (pizza and Bahamian), the Sunset Inn (local cuisine), and LeoRose Sunset Beach Bar and Grill (local cuisine, drinks, live music).
