Alta Vista is not suited for toddlers and preschool age children.

The Alta Vista home was built in 1998 and recently expanded. It is located in close proximity to the famous ski resorts Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, North Star, Sugar Bowl, Royal Gorge, and the Tahoe-Donner down hill and cross-country facilities.

The panoramic vistas are maximized from every room and large wrap-around decks. The main level has two bedrooms (one with a Q and one with two T beds), each with sliding glass door access to a large view deck, a bathroom, a hallway with an "overflow" futon bed, and a three-car garage. The family room with dining area and kitchen, as well as an extra-large master bedroom (with K bed, large window seat, and reading area), and large deck are on the upper level. A second master bedroom/bath with a round "sultan" bed (approx. king size), an indoor 2-person jacuzzi tub is available on the lower level. The home features wall-to-wall carpeting and a vaulted LR ceiling. The downstairs master bedroom is tiled and features radiant floor supplemental heating, as well as a gas fireplace.

Guests are renting the entire house. We give small groups a significant price break. We prefer to rent to family-type group settings and will decline rental requests if we are not completely at ease that the renters will not abuse our private home for partying purposes.
Guests will receive free Internet and free telephone (even for international long distance).

We have a 3-night minimum (4 nights for major vacation periods -- please inquire). All formalities are done via e-mail and Internet. Prospective guests can reviews more information and pictures of Alta Vista Chalet at Truckee at our dedicated website.

There are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails in the immediate vicinity of Alta Vista. For a nominal fee, Renters of Alta Vista have access to all Tahoe Donner recreation facilities (downhill and cross-country skying, tennis, 2 swim centers, gyms, boating and swimming and picnicking at Donner Lake, etc.

There is no practical public transportation to and within Tahoe-Donner.

Guests will receive guest cards to access resort amenities (swimming pools, tennis courts, ski areas, etc.) for nominal daily fees payable to the Tahoe/Donner Association.

Owner will communicate with guests via e-mail but will not be present during guests' stay. Once your booking is confirmed, Owner will e-mail you all information pertinent to your stay at Alta Vista, including the key code then applicable to you and the Internet password.

Alta Vista is located in a prime view location within the renowned Tahoe-Donner Resort. Endless trails for hiking and biking -- trail head just 300 yards from Alta Vista; cross-country and downhill skiing (beginner resort); deeded resort access for boating, swimming and picnicking at Donner Lake; etc. etc.

No convenient public transit, except for the scenic train ride from Oakland to Truckee.

Guest access
Guests are renting the entire house -- owners or their representative will not be present during the duration of the rental. House has three levels and is not suited for wheel chairs.

Other things to note
Our basic pricing is for up to 4 people. If there are more people -- even if only for one night -- an additional charge of $23 PER RENTAL NIGHT (e.g., $46 if the rental period is 2 nights, $69 for 3 nights, etc) applies.

It is awkward and cumbersome to adjust the pricing once a rental has been accepted. Therefore, please try to be accurate with your occupancy total. If your group has no member above 40 and/or below 15 years of age, please give the age of EACH member in your group in your application. PARTYING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
