The Dairy at Brackenthwaite Farm

The Dairy is a beautifully converted property sleeping 2 in luxurious comfort. The fully restored dairy has an open plan layout with the bedroom located on the mezzanine floor.

Downstairs, there is comfortable seating around a fantastic wood burning stove. The Dairy even still has an old well (covered in safety glass) lit up in the centre of the living room floor, a marvellous feature which adds to the unique character of this cottage. 

There is a fully equipped kitchen with everything you can possibly need for your stay. The bathroom, also on the ground floor, feels like a little sanctuary to relax and unwind after a days exploring. The bedroom is just up the stairs on the mezzanine level and has a comfortable kingsize bed for you to retire to. Outside there is a garden table for you to enjoy with beautiful vistas of the rolling countryside.

Brackenthwaite Farm is situated in Yealand in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty nestled between the two coastal villages of Silverdale and Arnside in the beautiful south of Cumbria along the coastlines and peninsulas. Dating back to the 17th Century and built around a courtyard this group of family-owned stone cottages with character features have been converted from the original farm buildings to create truly wonderful living spaces on this former working farm.

With excellent walking and cycling from the door, these dog-friendly properties have an abundance of exploration and discovery from the get-go including cycling and walking. The attractive coastal village of Arnside is also just a short journey in the car with stunning coastal walks or try Arnside Knott with its breathtaking views of the surrounding area including the Bay, Cumbrian peninsulas and the Lake District's mountains. You can also walk to Warton Crag or walk through Leighton Hall grounds to Leighton Moss Bird Reserve which hosts superb facilities. The reserve is also a renowned location for bird watching where you can catch a glimpse of many varieties of bird. From here by rail in less than 10 minutes in one direction visit Carnforth station, one of the shooting location for the iconic film, Brief Encounter. In the other direction, hop on the train to Arnside and in a few minutes, arrive at Arnside itself or continue on to the appealing Edwardian town of Grange Over Sands. With so many options available to you straight from your front door, you'll be presented with a wealth of quaint Cumbrian towns to discover.

There are good pubs in Silverdale and Arnside but also Yealand and Beetham, too. In fact, you will be spoilt for choice and there are a plethora of local walks with fields and woodland in all directions. Don’t forget fairy steps which is a local walk between Beetham and Arnside and see if you can pass down the steps without touching the side to be granted a wish! 

Brackenthwaite Farm is surrounded by fields and in fact, the owners have devised a nature trail from the door for guests to enjoy. There is walking and cycling from the door in abundance in this rural setting yet it is well placed for further exploration of the South Lakeland area and beyond. With the ever-changing colours of nature and the wonderful vistas in this area, this quieter corner is somewhat a hidden gem which is wonderful for relaxing and exploring on your holiday in any season.
