About this space

The Back House is perfect for families or friends who yearn for togetherness! A 1930's two-story gem with pine floors, and a sparkly new kitchen in a quiet, off-street setting. The master and guest bedrooms are upstairs with lovely sunset and sunrise views. There is a comfy sofa sleeper and full bathroom downstairs as well as a kitchen, dining area, living room, and laundry. The private patio and wine bar/remote workspace and balcony are yours and yours alone. Simple, quiet, relaxing retreat.
The space
The Back House was built circa 1930 on the same lot as the creole cottage, built in 1810. The two-story family home has its original French windows, stained glass, and wood plank flooring throughout. Since it is off the street, it is very private, light, and breezy. The master and guest room are located on the second floor and share a balcony with bar table for beautiful views of Louisiana sunrises and sunsets. When the moon is full, the balcony view throughout the evening sky is breathtaking. Enjoy with someone you love, (or really like a lot).

Guest access
Feel free to roam -- the house is yours.
You will share the outdoor spaces with the cottage guests and the neighborhood kitties who come to say hello from time to time.

Please note that we are located in a very traditional New Orleans neighborhood. Please be respectful and love your neighbors (as I do).

Please keep noise to a minimum after 11 pm.

About Dayna English

I am a New York transplant (dis-occupying Wall Street) in 2008 and joining Teach for America to teach high school math in inner-city public schools. I am now in my fifteenth year of teaching between my home state of Hawaii, and my adopted homes in New York City and New Orleans. On school days I am gone by 6 am and generally not back until 5 pm. I either work or travel most weekends. I am a low key and low touch host- but promise to be as accommodating as possible. I try to live as simply and lightly on this earth as possible and hope that my guests will do the same. My home is in a wonderful location, clean, comfortable, and quiet but updated, upscale or fancy. After a decade in the hospitality business (which supports teaching in high-need public schools) I am reasonably experienced. In the spirit of constant learning, I welcome your constructive feedback. Let me know what you need and I will do my best to make it happen. If you have any interest in public education, I would be happy to have you visit a class or two.
