Lift the latch on the gate and leave the world behind, entering your own country retreat, set within a private garden. In the summer months round off the day with sundowners on the patio, or in winter cosy up inside and enjoy a romantic evening with a glass of wine in front of the wood burner effect electric fire. Getting up in the mornings is a leisurely affair here, so switch off the alarm clock and wake up to the sound of bird song and the gentle light filtering through the bedroom's unusual stained-glass window.

The sleepy hamlet of Treween is tucked away next to the attractive village of Altarnun on the north-eastern edge of Bodmin Moor. There are many miles of trails to be enjoyed on the moor, or for a gentler stroll why not walk the half-mile to the village pub, on your way back stopping at St Nonna's. Known as the Cathedral on the Moor, this historic church has many beautiful features, including the 13th century font, and featured in both the novel Jamaica Inn and the TV series, Doc Martin.
