Hi, I'm Beverly Johnson

About Beverly Johnson My husband and I with our three children, camped for years at Marshall Park Campground, just down the road from where our cabin is today- we fished the Rio Grande River for trout every morning. Camp songs and s'mores in the evening. The children went to Cheley summer camp in Estes Park, but when camp was over we all headed for Creede. As we all grew older, lives changed, but we were still a camping, fishing and hiking family, with our love for the friendly community of Creede. So... we traded the RV and camping in for a fabulous cabin and we all really love it. One of our daughters has learned to catch and clean her own trout, and our son, grandson, and friends LOVE hiking in the mountains. Our daughter has recently taken up rock hunting and intends to learn how to cut, polish and and make jewelry out of amethyst she gathered at Last Chance Mine, a must see. We often have a sing-along with the banjo and old time songs. A wonderful space for everyone to be together and make great family memories and good old fashioned fun. Why Beverly Johnson chose Creede Our nearly 1,000 feet of river front along the Rio Grand river is across the river from another family home, and we love being close to Creede. With 5 acres, we are fairly isolated. And if our growing family wants to camp at Marshall Park Campground, they are 'right around the corner' from us. Fishing and hiking are our favorite activities. The dam opens up water in June, so river flow is rapid and full between the two banks. Same number of fish, but a little harder to catch. Toward mid July the river has lowered and fly fishing is easier--you can walk out on the rocks into the river. Lots of fish can be caught from the banks of our property. Love Lake is always a great place to fish--on up Middle Creek Rd. Other great creeks, lakes, etc. you can easily learn about fishing spots at "Ramble House." a sporting goods store in town. What makes this Cabin unique I will share my recipe for trout 'sauce, just in case.... Melt about 1/3 stick Butter 2 T chopped onions (prefer green onions) Saute onion in butter until soft Add 1 T lemon juice Enough for at least 2 good sized trout. I usually flour the fish and I leave the heads on. Best if trout is cooked in cast iron skillet over an open fire. Our youngest daughter (as a little girl) BEGGED us all for the fried trout eyes!
