The space
Enjoy your own private mountain resort-style getaway complete with a hot tub, 5-hole putting green, fire pit, gazebo pavilion with swinging beds, cornhole, and two 40-foot slides. Inside, soaring ceilings, warm wood finishes, and inviting gathering spaces create the perfect setting for family vacations, couples’ retreats, and group getaways.
This cabin is more than a mountain retreat—it is a celebration of Appalachian (app-uh-latch-in) history. The owner thoughtfully incorporated reclaimed and restored materials dating back to the mid-1800s, carefully crafting these aged materials to meet modern functionality while preserving their original history and character. Axe-hewn logs from the 1850s built in traditional chinked style that accents the wall behind the stone gas fireplace, complemented by a hand-hewn American chestnut mantel crafted from a species later devastated by chestnut blight. Throughout the cabin, you’ll find pecan, cypress, rainbow poplar, black walnut, black oak, and persimmon woods, along with pieces of the past such as an 1850s worktable, handmade bricks still bearing their makers’ marks and fingerprints, and a restored late-1800s decorative stove. Even the cabinetry and bedposts carry history, crafted from reclaimed late-1800s barn wood with original character details such as mortise & tendon joints, rafter cutouts, and hand driven wooden spikes.
