Perfect for large groups that want to celebrate, have a retreat or just a get together.
Our carefully and ecologically restored guest house has been converted into family, triple and double rooms - all en-suite and with their own private patios and entrance. The common areas and outdoor areas are spacious. We have a ping pong table in the main room   As it is a guest house, there is a reception area where the manager resides to help with any enquiry. This is entirely private from the rented accommodation. I, the manager am there to maintain the pool and grounds and to help out with problems or queries and security, with the aid of our special house mascot "Beau".
Local materials have been used where possible and our use of solar power and reed beds for the purpose of water management ensure that we do our best to promote natural living. Positioned in the center of the green Asseca valley and it's own garden, the once farm house overlooks orange groves, olive trees & the bamboo lined river that flows into Tavira. Wildlife abounds.   The large, kitchen and barbecue areas around the pool are perfect for large groups to enjoy the freedom of home catering or late night parties while the free table tennis table is where large and small kids can have their own fun along with TV and internet.
We offer recycling of all wastes as we wish to tread as gently on the planet as we can and hope that some of the positive energy of the house is taken home and applied, with every visitor.   The plentiful, private outdoor space is where you can bask in the warm sunshine of the day or sit under an endless sky of stars at night and is the perfect place to relax and simply enjoy life.
Cooler months are no problem as the entire house has underfloor heating.
Parking is free and can accommodate 9 cars easily.
Figs, pomegranates, lemons and tangerines can be seasonally picked and our hens do their best to give you cholesterol free eggs.   Youtube Link:

Tavira Riverfront Guesthouse by Marc Holden Toole Friendly and spacious Guest house great for large groups, families and retreats - Fazendinha I am English/American born in Hong Kong, grew up there, Japan and Spain. My wife Carol is from England. We have spent 17 years rebuilding the old 150 year old farm house into our ecological guest house it is today. "Ecological" because we used all natural products in it's construction and energy efficient and low impact systems. My two larger children went all through school here in Tavira and Ruby our little 6 year old will do the same, growing up multilingual. We are easy-going and life-loving people, and this outlook is projected onto our Guest house. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. Why Marc Toole chose TaviraI chose Portugal in 1995 because it had just joined the EU, because I love the South of Europe, because it was unspoiled and has a lovely countryside and because the prevailing winds mostly come off the Atlantic so any industrial and noxious disaster in Europe would probably blow away from us. I chose Tavira, because it was, without a shadow of doubt, the nicest town on the Algarve and still is and because it is on river that is always full of water (not always the case in the south) and because the town is located on a stretch of coast called the 'Natural Park of the Ria Formosa' that is ecologically protected because of it's abundance of wildlife so it is improbable that the area will ever be over developed by mass tourism that has partially ruined other coastlines around the world. After 17 years of living here, I can happily say that my choice was the right one as the whole coast, with it's inland waterways and immaculate beaches are still beautiful.
